Q: Can we tour the camp before planning an event?
A: Absolutely! We want you to be able to make a well-informed decision. It would be an honor to show you around and share our passion for Purley Gates! If you are interested in checking the place out, give us a call and we can set up a time to do so.
Q: Where is Purley Gates Retreat located?
A: Purley is located in a beautiful, wooded area about 8 miles south of Mount Vernon, Texas or 11 miles north of Winnsboro, Texas. When driving on highway 37, you will turn east on FM 900 (At that intersection there will be a sign for Saltillo to the west). You will drive approximately a mile and a half and the Purley Gates Retreat entrance will be to your left.
Q: How safe is the camp?
A: We do our absolute best to make sure all of our guests are safe and in the best possible care. As part of our hiring process, all employees must have background checks, as well as go through training to protect against child abuse. They all receive necessary certifcations, such as, the first aid certification. We require that all adult guests go through background checks. Purley Gates Retreat will go through great measures to ensure the safety of everyone on our campus. If you have any more questions or concerns, feel free to contact us.
Q: What should I pack?
A: This is always one of the toughest decisions to make for camp. Of course, always pack the necessities, such as: clothes, toiletries, and the Bible. You should pack a pillow and either a sleeping bag or twin size sheets! We will provide the bedding if you are staying in GAB Hall, but the dorms do not have this. We also strongly suggest that you pack plenty of sunscreen, a hat and some sunglasses. If you have more questions on what to pack, let us know. Make sure to leave some space in your bag for souvenirs!
